Day 18 on the Camino Frances, Hornillos to Leon
In Hornillas I calculated that I had to get on a bus and cover some miles, and the Meseta seemed like some countryside I could miss, in order to by in position to meet up with my daughter Ciera. My albergue host called a cab, which took me back to Burgos, where I caught a bus to Leon (population 130,000), skipping 175km of the camino.
I stayed in an albergue there, which cost 12 Eu. I got assigned a bunk, got a quick tour, was issued a disposable mattress cover and pillowcase. No blanket, and I had sent my sleeping bag back home from Pamplona. There was a shower, some sinks, some toilet stalls. It was pretty warm, so my puffy jacket was enough for keeping warm. I went off to get some grub in town.
Shown below is the street where the albergue is located, in the old town of Leon.
