Twenty Mile Basin, McCall Area in Idaho

This is a hike I did with some 11 year olds on a scout trip. Its not visited very often, and the fish are therefore BIG! There was a lot of downed trees as we hiked in, Tom and Patrick O’Neal, Josh Edvalson, and me and my son Jim.

Travel north 18 miles from McCall on Warren Wagon Road, past Upper Payette Lake.  The Twenty Mile Trailhead is two miles north of the Upper Payette Lake Campground entrance, on the right side of the road.  There is a short gravel road that leads to the trailhead.  I can’t vouch for the condition of the trail. There were a lot of downfalls when we did it, which required stepping over. I think its about 6 miles, and seldom visited.

Jim almost caught a big one in one of the lakes, but as the picture was being taken the fish got away. One of the biggest fish from alpine lakes I have seen.
