Kayak Deck Compass

I recently build a skin-on-frame kayak (SOF), which is the construction technology used by Arctic people to make traditional kayaks. I also took a 5 day sea kayak class to learn more about using it. All the cool kids in class had deck compasses, to help them keep a steady course from point A to point B. I bought a strap on compass for my SOF, but its peaked deck made the fit goofy.

So I built up a foam block to make the compass level. Now when I do the Colorado River at Spring Break, I can be one of the cool kids. Yay!
