The Eberlestock H31 Bandit Pack

I have been enjoying the H31 Bandit Pack by Eberlestock. Eberlestock is a Boise based company world famous for heavy duty military and hunting gear, especially packs with built in rifle scabbards. It was started by Glen Eberle, when as an Olympic biathlete he designed a revolutionary stock for the rifle he used in that sport.

The Bandit pack is perfect for day hikes where a small volume heavy duty pack is needed. It is perfect for carrying gear too heavy for a flimsy pack, such as camera, electronic, or shooting gear. It is not a pack for backpacking, but is perfect for a jaunt around the foothills or an in-and-out day hike to a mountain lake. It has two side pockets for water bottles, and is compatible with internal hydration bladders. One zipper opens up the entire contents of the pack, for easy access to whatever is needed. Inside the top compartment is a key hook, a mesh storage pocket, and a third pocket. The detachable back panel is a great place to stash a raincoat, snow shovel, or lunch. An optional waist belt may be added, The shoulder pads and waist belt are substantial and comfortable, and the sternum strap keeps the shoulder straps from sliding off. D rings on the shoulder straps are a solid place for accessories such as a whistle, a knife, or a camera. The belt has places that additional pockets can be attached for chapstick, sunblock, knife, snacks, etc. There are attachment points all over the pack to attach items, plus two substantial water bottle pockets. Two things for sure about this pack: it will never fail you, and it will not wear out.

The back of the pack opens fully to reveal the entire pack contents. Very handy when you have to find something. The pack is lined with pockets and organizers.
