Imogene Lake
Imogene is rumored to be the prettiest lake in the Sawtooths, and I can't doubt it, although Sapphire , Alice, and Sawtooth Lake are close rivals. I've been to Imogene many times, including when I had first started to inject insulin as a diabetic. I couldn't go more than half a mile before I had to take a nap, and I thought that trip would be my last backpack. Turned out I had other problems, so I didn't have to quit backpacking. That was in 2010, and I've been back to Imogene several times.
To get to Imogene you go about 15 miles south of Stanley on Hiway 75, and turn west onto Hell Roaring Road just past Fourth of July Creek road which is on the east side of the road. There are places to park near the trailhead, which is before a bridge over a rushing creek. Its about 5.2 easy miles to Hell Roaring Lake, and its 4.1 miles on to Imogene Lake. Below Jenna Anderson gives us some yoga demonstration. She also told me something very wise: "the sooner you accept what is, the sooner you find peace."
