Bike and Boat, Greek Islands, Day 3, Kalymnos
Since our scheduled visit to LIpsi was cancelled due to weather there, we had a second day on Kalymnos. We headed off from the port city of Pothia and headed up hill to the Greek Orthodox monastery of Agios Savvas.
After the monastery we stopped at a house billed as something like “Ordinary Greek Life Museum.” There a lady told us about the life of the women in traditional Greek villages, in which the men were engaged in sponge diving most of the year. The young ladies reached marriagable age at 14, and after 18 were considered old maids. After that we biked to a beach which also had a cafe. Tuckie swam, I waded and splashed in the water. It was cool, but not cold.
As we cycled back to the boat I got this picture of our boat (the biggest one) in the harbor.
